
As the days get colder and December fast approaches, thoughts are now turning towards the festive season. Visiting the wintry stalls of a Christmas market with mulled wine or a hot chocolate in hand, is always a highlight, so here are seven beautiful homes close to some of the region’s favourites…
1. Burghley Christmas Fair (24th – 27th November)
We couldn’t start this post without mentioning Burghley House, which is hosting the region’s largest Christmas Fair between 24th and 27th November. There will be over 130 stalls offering everything from luxury gifts, artisan food and drink to Christmas decorations, homewares and winter clothing. In between all the shopping, make sure to stop and enjoy the tempting range of artisan food and drink on offer with the whole family. Highlights include traditional chalets, heated marquees, festive pagodas, twinkly lights, carol singers and a Victorian carousel.

2. Oundle Christmas Market (3rd December)
Hosted by the local council, this is an annual event which is taking place on 3rd December. There will be over 90 stalls, and Oundle’s independent shops and cafes will remain open until late in Market Place, Queen Victoria Hall and West Street to allow you time to find the perfect gift for loved ones. There will also be a wonderful variety of food and gifts , Santa and his Grotto outside The Talbot Hotel, whilst visitors can also enjoy a brass band, carol singing around the Christmas tree, a beautiful light display and fun fair.
